These characteristics of Noria are what define her inner self. These interior beliefs are what mold her story. She displays her inner beliefs through her act of helping others which shows her selflessness to the society. This is specifically shown when Noria showed her care for others as she broke the law to help someone in lots of needs. This occurred when she did not deny a woman from buying water from her in desperate need for her family. “A woman with greasy hair and unwashed clothes appeared at the gate […] asked in a frail voice if I could sell her some water on credit, I could not turn her away” (185). When Noria says “I could not turn her away” shows Noria’s morals when it comes to helping those in need. This resembles Noria’s inside forces and how they have a huge impact on what people see as your exterior. This is how Noria’s interior beliefs shape her narrative and make her come out to be a girl who is selfless and cares about those around her. This is a great example of Bruner’s concept of Interior forces create yourself
