Response to the Introduction

Memory, Symbol, and Pattern affect reading of literature by giving the reader a deep interpretation with more structure of a piece of literature. It also makes the reader associate more things in the piece of literature with his experiences or others types of literature. The Recognition of Pattern helps the reader to have a clearer understanding of the literature for the reason that it makes the reader to relate the patterns of the literature with patterns in real life. On piece of literature that was enhanced by the understanding of symbolism was the August Wilson, Fences. In the book, the word "Fence" have a symbolic meaning that could mean physical protection but also can have a more emotional meaning for the ones who wants the fence to be build.

and Mrs. Kranks after their daughter departure to a Peace Corps assignment in Peru, decided to take a break from the regular Christmas tradition of making a huge feast with family and friends, and decided to go in a cruiser through the Caribbean. However, after their daughter announced her return to home with her boyfriend, they struggle in order to have the Christmas feast ready for them a day before Christmas eve. After the cooperation of all neighbors in order to have the special dinner for their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kranks realized how important is to have dinner and share meals with their neighbors and they started to value its importance after they realize that for one of their neighbors could be her last Christmas dinner due to her terminal
