By means of neighbor circumstances and personal connections, detective Paul, often believe in his own sense to identify who is bad or not, when he stares usual suspects in their faces. While about 10 women became the victims, the criminal has been not yet caught up. Literally, the cases became the Memories of Murder like the title of this movie.
Director Bong Jun-ho said that his new film 'Memories of Murder' was originally inspired from a terrible image like 'a naked corpse that is ruthlessly murdered as found at a secluded and peaceful countryside in the afternoon under a very bright and warm sunlight.'
In most thrillers, the death seems only a game or puzzle play. In Memories of Murder, however, every death is soaked into woe and wrath as it is. Above all, it is surprising and even shuddering that this film takes its critical motive from a true story called 'A chain of rape-murder cases in Hwasung.' Who the hell is the criminal?
