When looking at the Memorial Hermann website, there is a large picture of an older couple and a caption regarding insurance plans. There is also a place to find a doctor, pay a bill, which is in large print, and in small print at the bottom, news and educational events. At first glance, a person is led to believe this site is for the elderly. As for Methodist, a large picture depicts a scientist, while another displays that the hospital system has been ranked one of the “Best Hospitals by U.S. News” and is the only one in Texas. An area for scheduling mammograms is also on the page. The caption about medical breakthroughs targets the sick, mammogram scheduling targets women, and displaying their award targets all audiences when choosing a system that will provide the best care. At first look, Methodist is more appealing to the consumer based on who each website seems to be targeting. When viewing Memorial Hermann, the older couple is drawn to it as the website seems to say “We will take good care of you for less”. With Methodist, the story takes on several different avenues. Scientists are working hard to make cures, preventative care is important as advertised as the “Scheduling your Mammogram” box suggests. Moreover, being “The Only Nationally Ranked Honor Roll Hospital in Texas”, tells the story of a hospital system that is capable of taking care of people. The website Methodist displays is more appealing to the whole person and all the options that are available. In conclusion, both websites are appealing in different ways. Memorial Hermann focuses on the elderly and money issues they may face due to insurance. Methodist, with its visual boxes, appeals to a larger audience. Both hospital systems do a good job of stating their purpose. However, Methodist does a better job by displaying a wider target base, showing credibility, using visuals and has a better story. Based on the techniques used by each website, Methodist
