Memorial Day: A Hero's Death At War

Like Martin Luther King Jr. once spoke, I have a dream. I have a dream that all of our fallen veterans will be remembered, honored, and celebrated. Unfortunately, there just isn’t enough days in the year to honor them all with their own day. Luckily for us though, we have memorial day, a day to honor every veteran who ever died at war. Whether family or friend, or someone you read a story about. Whether a fighting soldier or a drumming boy. They are all to be remember on memorial day. Even if they were a simple military chef who died when their camp was bombed, they are still to be remembered on memorial day. Everyone who died at war is a hero in one way or another. They all died fighting for our country. Whether they were healing, praying,

Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital by American journalist Sheri Fink is a very inspirational book because it focused on the events that happened in Memorial Medical Center when the hospital was flooded and had no electricity after Hurricane Katrina struck the city. Time, space, communication, and identity are portrayed throughout the book. These four factors are important in inter-ethnic relationships between patients and health care providers. Being able to identify these factors in a clinical setting, health care providers can provide more efficient care for all patients.…

Most people think of Veterans Day as a day off from school or work, well they are wrong. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S Military Veterans. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also the anniversary of the end of World War I (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went to effect.) Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day.…

The day has become a celebration of honor for those who died in all America’s wars, as well as those who are Veterans and current members of the U.S. military. Memorial Day is the day we put aside to recognize the fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. So many wonderful men and women have fought for the freedom and security of America. That is why we set aside a day to show gratitude and respect for our country's heroes and fallen heroes.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

1976 was America’s bicentennial year. Memorial Day weekend was a precursor of what was to come on July 4th. It represented good times for most. Two hundred years of United States independence was an opportunity for some motivated patriotic people to go straight to their banks to pick up all the minted commemorative coins so that they could save them in proof quality. A larger portion of the population was anxious to celebrate by going to parades, buy or go see fireworks.…

I think Philip Freneau did a great job in his attempt to create American Epic material for America’s own culture in his poem “To the Memory of the Brave Americans”. One pattern found in Freneau’s poem is his ability to connect the story to different historical people and events. He refers to the British as “Britons” in lines 22 and 27, the name given to the first people to live in Britain, although the British mentioned in this poem about aren’t the original Britons. Freneau also compares the British’s retreating strategy to what the Parthians did in Persia. Just like the Parthians used to do, the British were able to kill many Americans while they were retreating.…
