During the summer before my senior year in high school I went to the CORD center in Siddhabhari, India, a rural area with many farming villages that needed assistance. When I was not working on a rice paddy or navigating a Himalayan mountain to get to a village, I made frequent requests to work in the clinic. I helped with minor ailments of people who lived nearby by making splints, bandaging, etc. Being able to tend to a person and assuage their pain was a delightful feeling I will never forget. Eventually, I started assisting with children who would come from villages for help with developmental disorders. I would play with them, help them establish motor control, encourage them to make sounds, or even just try to get them to make eye
