MEMOIR FLASH DRAFT: BROOKE GEORGE
It was an ordinary day in my house when I heard my dog walking around. I could hear the pitter patter of his tiny feet. Delighted by the sound, I went to go find and play with him, but then it hit me. He wasn’t there anymore. I remember when the tragedy happened, where and how. Like I was traveling back in time.
The year was 2012 and it was a normal Sunday evening where the sun had just started to set, when it was time to go get our first pet, a puppy to be exact, who we named Dasher with my family. We were living in Texas at the time and it was a one hour drive to go get him. It was my brother’s idea to get a pet dog and so here we were. He was our first pet and was very shy. We took him home, cuddled in my mom’s arms and he became loyal to us since from the start. He was so comfortable with

He loved my dad the most, however, my dad wasn't that fond of him running to him the second he came home, for he was still in his formal attire.
One evening we all went to the park and played in the sprinklers, while my brother had soccer practice at the same place. My cousins were also staying with us at the time. My friend, who was also my neighbor came as well. The park was inside my community, however, we still took the car because it was at the next block of the community. My older brother brought my dog for a walk after we had got there, on a leash. It was the first time he did this since we got a pet. He didn’t even tell us he was going to, so we were surprised.
We were all done playing in the sprinklers and my younger brother was done with his soccer practice, so we started to leave. My older brother said that he would walk the dog home, so we were going to leave and go home to take a shower, so we didn’t get a cold.
As we were about to leave, we heard my older brother yell,
