Melba Pattillo Beals impressed me the most. Though many of her qualities were impressive and rare, I will be talking about two of them today. The first quality that I thought was most impressive was her kindness. Beals showed this quality throughout the book many times. One time she showed this trait was at Central High School. Beals was being spat on, abused, and called mean names. Through all of this, she would respond by saying “ Thank you “ and would not fight back. Another example of Beals’s kindness is when Link’s Nana Healey is in need. Beals greets her with compliments and respectfulness and then goes and find a local doctor to help diagnose Nana Healey’s disease. As I grow up I would like to also have this trait.
