We could be lead to the clan for all we know, but we had to do this before anyone called the police. We left the car in the parking lot, but we did not see Link. Every night Link has been calling Melba. Melba has been telling me that he is helping her, giving her all the plans that the white kids have for her. I still forbade her from talking to him. I have no idea who this “link” boy is. I don’t know what he is up to. I don’t trust him at all. I’m pretty sure he is just doing this to get Melba to trust him and set her in a trap. Only Grandmother and I know that Link is helping Melba, the other seven don’t know. May I don’t know when this Melba girl is going to finally see it. There is no way that I am going to let her and the other seven graduate; their funerals would come before that could ever happen. It’s already bad enough that they messing up our school ranking. I’ve been trying to scare her off by threatening her over and over again. I sway a switch blade knife in the air and chase her down the hallways. I have even slashed the book cover she was using
