Melanoma is a cancer that develops in the pigment cells of the skin called melanocytes. It is a type of skin cancer that can be more serious than any other forms because it has the ability to metastasize, which is the development of secondary malignant growths from the primary site of cancer, to other parts of the body and cause serious illness or even death.
