Melanoma Essay On Skin Cancer

Many people are aware that Melanoma is a common type of skin cancer but one thing that is unknown to many, is the fact that Melanoma is the most deadliest of all skin cancers. Physicians all over the world are unclear on how it’s exactly caused but there are things that can increase the chances of someone developing Melanoma. Although there isn’t a direct cause, many physicians have come to the realization that Melanoma is mostly affiliated with exposure to Ultraviolet rays. Which according to Dr. Boris Lushniak (1974), “Is a form of radiation that comes from the sun, tanning beds, and sunlamps.” He also mentions, “excessive chronic exposure to UV radiation can change the texture of your skin, cause wrinkling and premature skin aging, and lead to cataract formation in the eyes. Most importantly, chronic UV radiation exposure is linked to skin cancer” (Lushniak, 1974). With that being said, exposure to sunlight for long periods of time can cause damage to your skin and ultimately lead to Melanoma. Although the exposure to UV rays is one of the leading causes of Melanoma, it’s not the only cause.
