There are many memorable people in the history of psychology. Melanie Klein had a huge impact on many people’s lives, especially children. She dealt with how children’s brain reacts to certain things. She also figured out why children think certain ways and why it is different from adult’s thinking. Melanie Klein was born in Vienna, Austria on March 30, 1882. She was born the youngest of four children and her father was a Viennese man who occupied a job as a dental surgeon. She had an interest in pursuing an education in medicine but abandoned her plans after she got married at the age of 21 to an industrial chemist named Arthur Klein. Her marriage was unhappy and unfortunately did not work out. Even though her marriage with her husband did not work, she had 3 beautiful children. Melanie Klein died at the age of 78 on September 22, 1960, in London, England. Melanie Klein had many motivators in her family to help her accomplish her dreams. She was much closer to her mother, Libusa, than she was to her father. She felt as if her dad favored her other sisters over her and Melanie depended on her mother to keep the family together. She was living in Budapest when she got the idea to engage in this study. She was undergoing psychoanalysis with Sandor Ferenczi when she became interested in this career. Ferenczi was a close associate of Sigmund Freud. Klein was invited to meet Sigmund Freud in 1917 at a meeting between the Hungarian and Austrian Societies. Klein read her first paper, “The Development of a Child” to the Hungarian Society in 1919. After that, Klein was asked to be a member of the Budapest society.
