“Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report” and “The Conspiracy Industry: Afterword to PM Expanded Investigation” are two articles both written for the Popular Mechanics magazine by James B. Meigs, the latter being written in 2006, one year after the former. “Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report” is an in-depth analysis of conspiracy theories surrounding the 9/11 attacks and the factual evidence that refutes these theories. “The Afterword” is a reflective piece that describes the uprising of the conspiracy theory community after the first article was published, and then poses the argument as to why conspiracy theorists have an “illusion of coherence”. Introduction I’m sure that many people these days have noted Mr. Trump’s battle or comments on Twitter have often been blown up into their faces by the media these days. In fact, it’s quite rare to find a news article that doesn’t include the infamous family name “Trump” either. It’s a constant ongoing battle between the Trump and media sources. Yet, many people within America and even outside of America tend to be attracted to this attention to Trump’s administration.…

The American citizens valued and adored highly respected political leaders such as the dynamic duo, Hillary and Bill Clinton. To them, Monica Lewinsky proved to be a detrimental setback to the government and embodied a character that was seen as unfavorable. She was extremely vilified by the media because she was seen “as that scary feminine trope: the crazy, emotional Single White Female — or, to borrow the phrase from the political sex scandal before her, “a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty” (Bennett, Jessica). All these descriptions of her eventually built a character of her as being lewd, provocative, improper, and out of line. She made decisions during this time period that have caused the media to paint this portrait of her that she could have avoided in the first place.…

Every human being has the ability to decide what they believe and what they do not. At a very early age, we develop judgement that allows us to choose whether or not to accept certain claims. These assertions may be tempting, but our reasoning allows us to critically analyze the information with respect to all of our previous knowledge. These claims may be faith based, fact-based, or opinion. Without recognizing it, we take every bit of information we gather, analyze it, and decide whether we accept its validity.…
