Mel And Terri Definition Of Love Essay

This story's overall focus seems to be that everyone has their own meaning of love, and that not one person’s definition of it is the correct one. It could be said that all of the definitions of love are correct. This main focus of love isn’t only seen by the characters themselves, but also how they interact with one another, by the setting that the author created, the fact that it is being told in first person, and so many other ways. There is something in every aspect of this story that contributes to the focus of love, and by all these things coming together it helps the author get his point across. From the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to two different couples, which starts off the theme of love that is trying to be expressed. There is Mel and Terri, who have both been married before, and then there is Nick and his wife Laura. There two couples represent different definitions of love right off of the bat, Mel and Terri are the couple who have been married for a while so they are in a different type of love than the Nick and Laura are since they are still in the honeymoon stage of their marriage. Everyone sees love in a different way and that is perfectly okay. This story was written to specify that, to let whoever reads it know that everyone experiences love in different ways, and because of the way it has been experienced means that everyone comes up with their own definition on it without even noticing. Through the characters this can be seen clearly, and it is even expressed in a not so straightforward way, through the setting. So the next time the question of what is love crosses your mind, remember that what you may think love is, is not what someone else may think love
