Megan Meier's Suicide Story

Improved Essays
The Megan Meier story is about a 13 year old girl that submitted a suicide 3 weeks before her 14th Birthday. It all started when a cute teenage boy named Josh sent her a friend request on Myspace. Megan asked her mother if she could accept his request, but when her mom asked if she knew the boy Megan told her that she doesn't, and so her mother then answered with a no, but after a while she allowed Megan to accept the request. Josh and Megan started talking and he told her that he had no access to phones, and that he was home-schooling so she never heard his voice or seen him. Megan battled with depression, weight problems and had ADD. She still was an easy-going kid who loved to help people and worked on her issues. During 3rd grade she was talking about suicide and after that she went to a therapist. From day to day all Megan did is go to school, come home and talk to Josh. He made her cheerful, she was in love with a boy that told her she was beautiful. But not for so long; On a Sunday in October 2006 Megan got a message from Josh saying awful things to her such as her being mean to her friends and not …show more content…
Ron later opened her account to see what made her suicidal and to what he sow the last message Megan sow was from Josh and it said " Everyone knows who you are. You are a bad person and everyone hates you. Have a shi*** rest of your life. The world would be a better place without you." It didn’t help because Myspace has over nine pages about terms and conditions and nothing about Cyber Bullying. Afterwards Megan's parents started massaging Josh and the figured his account was deleted. Few weeks later a neighbor down their street called and told them that Josh Evans never existed and was created by adults and that Megan was encouraged in a joke that lead to her death. Nothing can bring them back their little girl, however what they wanted is to change the law so Megan Meier story won't happen AGAIN

Teen’s death was a tragedy born of hatefulness I was puzzled and saddened by the story of 13-year old Megan Meier that Leonard Pitts wrote in his Sunday commentary in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. The parents of an ex-girlfriend of Megan, who lived a few doors away, created a MySpace page and kept sending messages to Megan using the name of a fictitious cute boy called Josh Evans. After befriending Megan and calling her pretty, Josh unexpectedly broke up with Megan and kept sending her mean and hateful messages. He had also been sharing her messages with the online community; describing her as a “fat slut.” In his last hateful message, Josh told Megan that she was a bad person, everybody hated her and the world would be better without her.…

Maybe she should have emphasized her drug abuse issue before being around him. We do not know as outsiders, if she was also an abuser to Joshua as well, since he sometimes preferred to stay with K.W. However, to play devil’s advocate, Julia has made legitimate arguments that K.W. in fact is responsible for the death of Josh and would even go as far to claim that possibly, he murdered the boy. This is not solely on the perception that he was a child abuser and emotionally ill. According to Julia, K.W. was a former Santa Clara county sheriff and ironically happened to be the deputy for the Joshua Klaver murder case.…

Many people who experience symptoms of mental health or who have been diagnosed with a mental illness have stated that they felt as though their symptoms are dismissed, or lessened (Itkowitz, 2016). As much as there has been progress with many shows changing the narratives of mental illness and online supports, there is still a definite stigma attached to being diagnosed with mental illness (Itkowitz, 2016). I decided to read Megan Rotatori’s survival story. I chose to read her story because I saw her picture and thought that she appears to be someone who many people would not believe to have a mental health diagnosis (Rotatori, 2014). The 20-year-old college student who is currently studying nursing at University of Vermont stated that she…

Suicide is the act of causing one's own death. According to dosomething.com, “Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year-olds and 2nd for 24 to 35-year-olds”. Through the use of Lydia's death and the Lee family's reaction, The book Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng shows both the reasons for a young person's suicide and how the act affects the people closest to them. Additionally, throughout the book, the youngest daughter Hannah is a background character who is shown to be nearly invisible and forgotten to the rest of the family. As is the situation with many younger siblings, Hannah does all she can to get her family's attention.…
