Plato, Aristotle, and Megabyzos were early Athenian philosophers. They had easy ways to spread their ideas. Each had a strong viewpoint on democracy. After seeing and experiencing the governments around them, they decided that was not what they wanted for their country. These philosophers and the people believed Greece needed something else, something different; nevertheless, the people came came up with a new idea, Democracy. Overall, it became a great thing and eventually became a huge part of later Western culture. Cleisthenes, Thucydides, and Herodotus were early supporters of the new form of Athenian government because it gave all citizens a right to vote and play a role in the government. Democracy was a way for ordinary men to make a difference because it gave power to the people. This type of government appealed more to the common people because there was no social standing. Aristotle said that democracy is only effective when people participate in their government to the best of their ability.
