The constituent provided an article that stated that military personnel were a part of the early prelicensure studies for mefloquine. Currently, that is the only source that has been found that indicates that service members were prescribed mefloquine. However, it is clear that service members are given some type of antimalarial medication when they travel to countries that are at high risk for malaria. Specifically, the constituent asks that more research be conducted on mefloquine and those that suffer from psychiatric symptoms as a result of mefloquine are allowed to receive the proper care.
