Meet Your Professor Assignment Analysis

For my “Meet Your Professor’' assignment I met with Professor Sharrow and Professor Boyle. I met with Professor Sharrow first then, Professor Boyle. My reason for me picking Professor Sharrow is he is my section instructor that I wanted to know more about. The process of me reaching out to Professor Sharrow is that I went to his office and scheduled a acceptable time for me and him. The appointment was suppose to be on September the 10th at 1:00 but I slip up and missed it. That one mistake taught me that I will not get second chances like that in the professional world. Being late for an appointment of any sort can make you look bad and unprofessional. As I learned my lesson from being late, I made another appointment for the following

Working the phone lines at the crisis center, I received a call from a 40 year old adult. They provided me with information about the crisis they are facing at this moment which includes an impending divorce mostly because the spouse was unemployed for extended periods of time, as well as concern over the ability to meet the demands of bills in addition to overwhelming job demands. Additionally, her goal of continuing education had to be put on hold. There is concern over the children’s anger towards the other parent as well as a lack of motivation with school work. In addition, the children are upset because they cannot participate in activities with their friends as before.…

When I began to wonder who I should interview for this assignment, I decided to interview my government professor David Prindle because he was the most interesting person. Thus, I began to prepare my meet with him by devising some questions to ask. When I imagined how the interview would go, I thought he would agree to meet me at during his office hours on Friday. I expected the interview to last around 20 to 30 minutes. I figured that some of the answers I would get would be predictable, such as what major he studied in college.…

Write of what parts of the text were the most difficult to read, and to identify how many times a passage was read before some understanding was achieved. This has been actually one of my best weeks so far, week 6. The topics were linear equations and non linear equations and I was able to remember about them so this time my brain was not that disconnected as normally is with algebra which made me happy. Do not get me wrong, I still had to read multiple times some sections that caused a little confusion, but again it was not that bad and at the end everything came back to me, this time it was a lot easy for me to figure out some of the book samples, except of course the ones that had multiple fractions I am still under pressure with those.…

According to Jane McCarthy graduate of University of Nevada she states, “Indigenous peoples are spoken for, not spoken with, in regard to their dreams for the education of their children” (p. 123). Jane McCarthy and Helene Johnson tell about their experiences as an outside teacher teaching on the Navajo Nation. The schools on native nations need to ask what the outstanding educational pedagogies are for the native students and how to implement those practices into the classroom instruction. The Accelerated School Project makes changes to the school curriculum, instruction, and organization which the Navajo Nation School didn’t do so well due to the disconnection with mainstream schools. The Native communities need to come together as a culture…

Over the course of the last few centuries, Christianity has been a driving force in the development of western culture. From igniting Crusades in the Middle Ages to introducing new words to the English vocabulary, the Christian religion has had a considerable influence on every aspect of the western culture known today; arguably, the arts and literature specifically were the most heavily impelled by Christianity. As Thomas C. Foster states in his book How to Read Like a Professor, writers of all forms of media are at least aware of the stories of the Bible, and use them in their works, whether it be a story structure or the names of people in biblical anecdotes. Because of this, it is interesting to notice that most classic novels (and even present works) use the idea of Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, in their narratives to create new yet familiar characters. Nathaniel Hawthorne…

In reading the article “What is the Pont of a Professor” I feel like the comments the author made about professors just handing out A’s is not true. In my opinion the statistic the author made in the second paragraph is evaluated very incorrectly to make his article look well back up with sources. The author claims in 1960 the percent of “A’s” were in 15 percent range and currently in our time frame the “A’s” range is in the 43 percent range. Back then in the 1960 it wasn’t common for people to go to college.…

As the senior project comes to an end, I am truly excited about the benefit my influence has had on the community. My senior project was just another step to the legacy that I have implemented in Warren County. Thinking back to freshman year, senior project seemed so boring and far away. For many years’ authors have been writing dystopian texts to alert us about what could potentially happen to our world if we allow certain progressions to continue. This dystopian text discusses how the government decides whether individuals live or die in the form of an examination to test one’s intelligence. The short story ‘Examination Day’ has affected my understanding of the negative impacts an overpowering government can have on a society through the use of specific time and place in which the text is set. Through the tone and mood that is demonstrated throughout the text which is established by the setting of the narrative, the impacts and effects of an overpowering government on a society is clearly evident to the readers. With these conventions, it accommodates a greater understanding for me as the reader to fuller apprehend the outcomes power and control a government can really have.…
