Meet Charisse Oliver's Illness

Meet Charisse Oliver she is 41 years of age and works at “Sparta Community Hospital” in Sparta Illinois. She is a mother of two a boy and a girl and has worked since the age of 16. However, she has not found the right job for her yet. She was not able to further her education until she her kids were a little older, therefore only allowing her to work at jobs that made her miserable to be at but had to for her children. “When my children’s father left me as a single mother providing for two I only had a limit of options to choose from to get the bills paid for and make sure my children’s needs were met.” In today’s economy it’s hard to find a good paying job unless you go to college to further your education. The main reason she hates her job is she never gets a day off seven days a week 365 day a year. She drives from Sparta IL- Belleville IL to pick up her newspapers, come back to Sparta and then do her paper route in rural areas around Sparta. Approximately about 150 miles a night. Considering she has to pay for her own gas and wear-and-tear on her vehicle she has to do what she can to make ends meet. I asked her “why doesn’t she just find a job that pays the same amount of pay?” She said this is one of the highest paying jobs around her area. The only positive is that her kids’ fathers’ mother owns the daycare so she doesn’t have to pay much for care cost. In addition, said this job was the highest paying newspaper route available at the time so she had to take the offer.
