However, most of us do have a choice in determining our desired outcome, but fail to put forth the necessary work and actions necessary to achieve more than, good enough.
One reason why this occurs is because some people may fear failure and don’t desire to do anything outside of their comfort zone.
Instead of making an effort to do more to enhance their life by creating their own opportunities, they choose to sit on the sidelines and hope that opportunities come their way. But sitting

Had I not put restrictions on her, she would have stood on the seat and probably tried to jump on it because she loves to jump.
My fear was that she would fall and hurt herself but I love her tenacity and drive to explore and discover more about herself and her surroundings. She is already a risk taker.
It’s that way with all of my grandchildren and children in general. Each one is unique, but for the most part, children enjoy discovering new things and exploring the unknown.
That’s why I always marvel at those who have been born with physical challenges. More often than not, rather than choosing to live mediocre lives, they achieve feats that others of us can’t or won’t achieve because many of us don’t take the steps necessary to achieve difficult feats. Why, do many individuals with challenges push themselves to greatness?
I believe that they have an intense desire to prove to themselves and others around them that their individual challenges are just that, “challenges.” And challenges can be overcome.
How many of us would have that same drive and fortitude to extend ourselves to the highest limit if we were presented with such

In the book, Mistakes Were Made (but not by me), Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson are able to showcase true life accounts of people that have made wrong decisions that were either unacceptable or completely terrible, who justified their actions as if they did nothing wrong. People do this because as humans, it is too complicated for us to admit that we have done something wrong, so instead we like to cover ourselves up with justifications. This then causes for the person to make the assumption that they have not made a mistake, but instead that others that surround them do. Each person has someone to help them make choices, whether it be a personal advisor, a partner, a whole community, they are there to assist, but usually, people like to…

In this paper, I argue that moral paradoxes do exist, and everyone will eventually face one. My argument proceeds by analyzing the definition of a paradox, looking at real life examples, and discussing how we try to make our decisions. At some point in life, everyone will face a moral paradox. Although there is controversy over whether such things exist, we look to the definition of a paradox for the answer. One of the elements of a paradox is a seemingly unacceptable conclusion.…

Overwhelming, sometimes startling, questions posed in class encourage us think beyond the box and push ourselves further to examine the ethical issues of a variety of topics. During the first official class of the semester, we were thrown a curveball with questions like “is it wrong to have sex with a dead chicken?” or “is it wrong to have sex with your siblings?” The class discussion, an endless back and forth between students debating the ethicality of these subjects, pointed to how our ethical decisions are based on how we were raised. From a young age, authoritative figures, whether it is our parents or teachers, aimed to shape our morality by teaching us what society deems to be right and wrong. I find this particular interesting because…

It, not my strengths, has instilled in me a sense of tenacity, ambition, and courage, each of which drives me to attempt the extraordinary, force me to challenge myself, to push the limits of what I expect of myself. This applies to all areas of my life, academics, sport, discipline, even my religious observance. Besides the courage to raise my personal bar, my overconfidence endows me with the strength of mind and the determination I need in order to actualize my goals. If I believe I can achieve something, no matter how difficult it seems, I will do everything in my power to see it through because I truly believe I can do it; this allows me to work fearlessly and doubtlessly through arduous challenges, enabling me to ‘rise to the occasion’. Thus, only through overconfidence have I truly discovered what I am capable of, and most of the time I have surpassed my silent, rational…
