Wystan Hugh Auden, an Anglo-American poet, once said “A doctor, like anyone else who has to deal with human beings, each of them unique, cannot be a scientist; he is either, like the surgeon, a craftsman, or, like the physician and the psychologist, an artist. This means that in order to be a good doctor a man must also have a good character, that is to say, whatever weaknesses and foibles he may have, he must love his fellow human beings in the concrete and desire their good before their own.” The field of medicine had always captivated and aroused my interest. Some people doubt my career choice because medical studies are long and known as arduous. They even think that studying in this field could harm my mental health. According to a study, Depression, Stigma, and Suicidal Ideation in Medical Students, made by Thomas L. Schwenk, Lindsay Davis, and Leslie A. Wimsatt, and published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, medical students attend a higher risk than the general population of experiencing different mental illness including depression and burnout. However, I think they are wrong. It is true that medical school is a length and burdensome process. Although, with motivation,
