There is no magic medication that can be used for everyone. "Finding the right drug is often a question of trial and error." (M. Empfield, N. Backalar, 2001) People react differently to all drugs. No one can have the same exact reaction to everything due to the chemicals already in his or her body. That is why it is so important to not self medicate, but rather to seek out guidance from a licensed doctor. Using these medications has been proven to be very helpful in clinical depression cases, but they may not work right away. It can take up to a couple months to fully feel the drug takes effect. As with any treatment, the patient has to want to get better in order to achieve any progress. This is not a case of prevention anymore, it has developed in to a case of treatment. If this was incorporated into schools, how much change could the schools see? If a well balanced eating plan was enforced, as well as physical activity not only in gym class, but classrooms for science etc. what major changes could society see? America 's teenagers would no longer be a world suffering from mass depression, but a nation changing the world together. Although these plans sound great, teenagers first need to feel able to express themselves and feel comfortable talking about depression. Some of the reasons depression goes undiagnosed is because teenagers are afraid to admit "failure", or they do not want to crush their parents.
