If I were to choose a medicare plan, I will choose the original medicare coverage which covers Plan A and Plan B. I believe that I have more options and I will be better served if I have the original medicare coverage insurance. The downfall of the orginal medicare coverage is the cost and not everything is covered. However, I would like to go to any doctors and hospitals I chose without any approvals or difficulties. I often see patients who have the advanced medicare coverage plan in the hospital, and our social workers are having a difficult time looking for placement (rehab or nursing home). I learned that there a lot of free resources or websites about medicare that can help the older adults and their family. There are websites that are offering tools such Plan Finder or Planprescriber.com that can help older adults learn and compare health plans, supplemental insurances, and drug plans in their area. Although it can be expensive, there are also fee based services such as Allsup.Inc that offers medicare services via telephone, which provides a customized medicare plans that will match their needs and budget . In addition, I learned that some local libraries and villages are offering programs for senior and their families where a medicare representative will educate them about medicare.
