This study investigates the reasons why animals should not be used in scientific research. Animals have been extensively used in medical and biological testing to test the viability of drugs and the reaction of animals to certain chemicals, or living conditions. Tests of certain diagnostic measures are made on animals before they can be tested and used on human subjects. Implicitly, animals are used like laboratory tools, which are deemed unacceptable by moral and ethical standards because animals have a life like any living organism. These animals experience pain, loneliness, psychological disturbances, and often forfeit their lives through excruciating conditions. Use of animals in biological and medical testing should be prohibited because it leads to loss of many animal lives and utter lack of respect of their rights. Use of animals can be avoided following the prevalence of alternative tests such as human …show more content…
The use of these animals tends to disregard the wellbeing and lives of these animals as they are passed through harmful tests before they are eventually killed. The rate at which these animals are exploited is extremely high, which implies that most institutions insensitive to the fact that these animals have lives, feelings, and deserve freedom like all other animals such as humans. A lot of animals are used to confirm other studies previously completed on other living organisms, which is equal to abuse of these animals. According to Ferdowsian (2011), there are no clear ethical guidelines that regard the use of animals in biological testing and medical training. Being biological organisms, subjecting them to harmful chemicals and extreme living conditions only to observe their reaction is utterly unethical and completely damaging to the welfare of these
