Medical Technologist Personal Statement

Decent Essays
Even though a medical technologist can learn an array of medical or clinical technologies, innovative methods and at the same time experience a diversity in their tasks on a daily basis, some of the most important patient treatment methods, clinical procedures and health related conclusions are only left in the hands of the physicians and other health caregivers. A medical technologist is not permitted to do or decide on major medical issues or patient treatment methods. As a result, I am bit disappointed by this profession. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. In order to overcome disease and injury, PAs and myself must first understand how they occur, using the medical model as our primary playbook. This model outlines a game plan for patient care based on the principles of physical examination, diagnostic testing, and appropriate treatment. I believe that patients, themselves, should be educated on how their risk factors, lifestyles, and medical histories play a role in their performance and prevention against injury and illness. In this sense, patients who suffer from ailments, ranging from polio to heart attacks, may avoid emergencies with the proper medical advice. My experience in emergency medicine and primary care make me a strong candidate because of the exposure to multiple fields of medicine.…

For my future occupation I have decided that I want to become a Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT for short. Most people that work in this field work in the laboratory of a hospital, however, you can also work in medical researching facilities and doctor’s offices as well with this degree. This job requires you to “collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances.” By doing these steps you will be able to figure out what bacteria or other microbodies are making someone sick and then you can send your results back to the doctor or nurse so that they can treat the patient properly. Currently, I am not sure what I will specialize in as a MLT, however, I hope to figure that out once I get hands on experience…
