Medical Receptionist "The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease,” said Voltaire, a French philosopher and historian. Without medicine today, the human race wouldn 't have survived on Earth. People are hired to be doctors to help sick or injured people; but doctors can 't do everything on their own. Doctors hire other people to help them with their work; such as, assistants, nurses, and medical receptionists. Certain fields that receptionists work require certain level of education. In the book, Careers in Focus: Medical Technicians, states that medical receptionists "must have learned both English and Biology in school," along with computer and social skills. I use to go to work with her when I was little, and noticed how her and her friends worked together like they were a family. They helped each other when help was needed. Patients were treated like they were a part of the family too. The doctors would mingle and have fun whenever the office had parties. My mother tried to keep the work and stress away from home, but sometimes it followed her anyway. As my mother, Renee Greene, said “The job makes me appreciate family and friends.” Medical receptionist is a hard and stressful job, but you can meet new people and make new friends. This is why I want to become a medical
