Medical/Surgical History. The patient is positive for usual childhood diseases and the births of three children, following normal pregnancies. Her surgical history includes an Appendectomy performed 10 years ago. She has a food allergy to shellfish, but no known allergies to medications. She takes pepto-bismol and metamusil for frequent stomach upset and constipation. She is a widow with two children, ages 23, 25, 29,and is a retired homemaker. She does not smoke and has an occassional glass of wine. Her family is positive for colon cancer in her mother and parenteral grandmother and for lung cancer in her father.
