During nursing school, pediatrics and med-surg were my two of my most favorite classes. Not only was I interested in the material that was being taught, I was able to store that information in my long term memory. Being able to understand the process and connect the dots helped me to do well in both of those classes. The goal of this article is to establish the basis of safe handover between the off going nurse and on coming nurse along with the involvement of the patient and family. Bedside reporting has shown to increase patient engagement, education, responsibility and caregiver support. Taking CTE classes in high school has allowed me to fulfill a prerequisite of the sonography program at ACC. Through my health science class, I have trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant and have completed 40 plus clinical training hours. ACC requires CNA classes, but does not require certification.
