I have always possessed a strong desire to make an impact within the medical field. Prior to joining the Navy, I worked as a medical assistant while enrolled in college classes. Although I was unsure of the profession I wanted to pursue at the time, I knew the experience would serve me well. When I initially enlisted in the Navy, I entered the Delayed Enlistment Program as a Hospital Corpsman. As a member of Reactor Department on a nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier, I was frequently exposed to radiation-producing equipment and radioactive materials. As a result, I was a part of the onboard radiation protection program and received frequent training on the hazards associated with radiation. Not only did my time in the nuclear community peak my interest in the Radiation Health field, but the rigorous nuclear training pipeline also prepared me for the challenging physics and calculus coursework I would be exposed to in my undergraduate studies. I wholeheartedly believe it was because of my nuclear training I was able to excel in college and ultimately attain my Bachelor of Science in Biology with
