As the son of a University of Michigan School of Dentistry alumni these values, as well as, being a leader and performing my best were emphasized since I was a toddler. Although I have stumbled intermittently, I have realized failing only occurs if I do not learn from my mistakes. My shortcomings as an undergraduate student illuminated the changes that I had to make, and the importance of the values emphasized throughout my childhood. Once these changes were made, I became a better student, a better community member, a better employee, and a better friend. My path to medical schools is anything but conventional, but I would not trade any of the experiences that I participated in, and learned from, for anything. I have been fortunate to be able to volunteer within and outside of the medical field, perform research, work within the medical field, travel internationally, and experience so much more. Although I have learned countless lessons from all of these experiences, perhaps the most important is the strength of an individual. The strength that has allowed me to exceed expectations at work, volunteering, and academics, overcome any doubts or challenges, and persevere until I achieve my goal of becoming a physician. A strength I would relish bringing to the incoming class and that will continue to drive me to be the absolute best that I can
