Medical practices have changed tremendously throughout the years. Thanks to the many medical advances and innovations, problems that would arise in the past are solved before they even happen. However, doctors and medical professionals have been taking advantage of those that are oppressed in society. The method of choosing the least well off in society for medical studies are extremely unethical and those who are already victim to the many injustices of the medical field are owed reparations. To the hundreds of thousands of people that suffered at the hands of those who are supposed to help them lose all sense of trust that they once gave to doctors and scientist.…
A major role of practicing healthcare professionals in today’s society is their moral and ethical approaches to a patient’s overall care. In this specific case, Martha Rogers, an 85-year-old gerontology patient, was admitted to a psychiatric unit of the hospital due to confusion and increasing irritability. Following evaluation, healthcare providers found she was dehydrated which may have caused some of the symptoms that she was undergoing; Mrs. Rogers, however, became calm and cooperative with the staff after the administration of fluids. After Martha Roger’s episode was temporarily contained, it was important to identify the next steps in her medical process. A healthcare team, consisting of a registered nurse, an occupational therapist,…
Discussion Providing exceptional care to U.S. veterans ought to be a priority for our nation and its health care providers. The VHA is approaching the 50-year mark of utilizing the nurse practitioner as a vital provider of primary care. With an increasing number of veterans, at home and abroad, now is the time to set up a universal scope of practice for providers throughout the system. It does not go unnoticed how difficult the creation of a national standard will be. While the VHA is a federal organization, its providers are all licensed by state entities.…
Family Nurse Practitioner vs. Nurse Administrator There are many various roles within healthcare that one can choose as a career path. Many choose a route that directly impacts patient care via treatment care plans while others choose to collaborate with other disciplines through an indirect patient care profession that impacts and improves the patient’s overall care experience. Regardless of the route, the goals in healthcare are the same, to provide safety and the highest level of patient-centered quality care (American Organization of Nurse Executives [AONE], 2015, p. 3). Direct and indirect care roles are both beneficial and provide services to patients but do so in differing manners.…

The mission is quality, service, financial, and work life. Hospitals are organized and their work is structured around a guiding philosophy. The philosophy serves as the institutional framework that shapes the direction of the acquisition of knowledge and skills and is the pivotal factor in the course of the long-term development of the institution (Huber, 2014, p. 426). The way I personally meet the vision and mission of my unit and Ohio Health as a whole is by providing good quality care to all of my patients, also by treating everyone with respect and dignity. The mission statement, core values, and vision are directly related to the philosophy of Ohio Health.…
As an individual and future physician I want to be unbiased, respected and trusted by my colleagues, other staff, and most importantly patients. The current system of health services delivery traces its roots to the traditional beliefs and values adopted by the American people. (Shi L & Singh, D.A (2015). Delivering Health Care in America. 62) The main beliefs and values in America are as follows [1]: Advancements in science.…
It is important for hospital to make their patient aware that doctors are acting on their behalf or not. Preventative medicine has served to play a pivotal role in creating a world where people live healthier lives, make large efforts to prevent common illnesses, and take precautions against illness and disease. All of these roles are in line with how I see myself contributing as a physician to the to the family medicine speciality. I have seen the societal improvements and benefits that have arisen through previous public health initiatives, such as vaccination programs, restrictions on the use of tobacco, family planning, etc. I want to be able to mold my career is such a way that I am able to help a large number of people, emphasize prevention and primary care, and also continually be challenged in ways that motivate me to improve as a physician.…
Actions that are right or wrong is all a matter of a difference of opinion amongst individuals. What they learn from their family, where they grew up, what institutions they attend, their religious views, and their reflection of themselves and the world around them, all influence their morals and ethical beliefs. New ideas are constantly emerging causing us to consistently review and reconsider our beliefs. One idea that emerged and caused ethical consideration is the goal of keeping ill persons alive. This first came in the nineteenth century and has since given rise to moral questions on the care for patients.…
