I. Marijuana is the stems, seeds, and dried up leaces from the plant known as Cannabis. It is also the most popular drug used by Americans today.
a. Marijuana can temporarily affect some functions of the brain such as memory and your coordination, but medical marijuana can help deal with important issues such as diseases or illnesses.

II. Medical marijuana has been proven to decrease the number of prescription drugs.
a. According to the NPR, it has been found that when states legalize marijuana, there are many decreases in the amount of prescription drugs like antidepressants and painkillers.
1. Medical marijuana helps people who struggle with depression and anxiety to people who suffer from seizures and major illnesses like cancer.
2. Medicare, an insurance plan for people with illnesses, has saved approximately $165 million dollars in 2013 due to the

Among the youth, property crimes such as robbery have been reduced up to 7% in states that have legalized medical marijuana.

IV. Indiana's police force can focus on more important issues.
a. Continuing to keep medical marijuana against the law will not stop people from getting the marijuana, whether it's by traveling and bringing it back or finding a dealer and paying for it.
1. Most people would agree that they would rather have their local law enforcement focus on more violent crimes such as homicide instead of arresting random people that aren't hurting other people nor themselves.
2. People who are arrested for the possession of medical marijuana just take up too much space in the jails when there are people who are actually dangerous that should be locked away in a cell.
b. Indiana has a high drug overdose rate.
1. Aside from marijuana, heroin and meth are commonly used drugs in Indiana. These drugs are extremely dangerous and the users of these drugs are in desperate need for help.
2. The police could be searching and arresting users of these harmful drugs instead of medical marijuana users if it was
