Thank You!

It was my pleasure and honor to interview at the distinguished University of Washington School of Medicine. I enjoyed every single aspect of my visit. I was privileged to interact with enthusiastic medical students, physicians, and faculty members. The interview day gave me a deeper insight into the mission and core values that UW School of Medicine stands for. It also affirmed my great fit for the school.

UW’s emphasis on family medicine, bridging healthcare disparities, and its exceptional clerkship opportunities makes it the ideal school for me. I was also thrilled to learn that medical students have the opportunity to create a new health pathway tailored to vulnerable Arab population in our community. I spoke with the director of the Center for Health Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Mrs. Norma Alicia Pino, and she was excited about adding a new health pathway to the curriculum. I am greatly amazed by the numerous opportunities students have to grow as professionals and have a positive impact on their communities while still in medical school.

However, my familiarity with the details of medicine expanded at age 15 when I began to volunteer at the C.A.R.E. Clinic, which provides medical care for the uninsured. In college, I explored medicine by volunteering in the emergency department at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul and participated in a Global Medical Brigades trip to rural Honduras.…
