Helping Hands has a large and unique set of responsibilities where I can learn useful skills. For example, volunteers have technical responsibilities such as conducting screenings, shadowing, and clinic set up. I am eager to work in these areas because I will learn technical skills that I can apply in my future career. Similarly, the opportunity to run educational programs can further develop interpersonal skills like communicating and teaching others. Overall, volunteering at this clinic would be a valuable holistic learning experience. Lastly, I’m interested in volunteering at Helping Hands Clinic for the opportunity to help the underprivileged who face unfair social prejudice. One of my aspirations is to serve the homeless and impoverished since they wrongfully marginalized and criminalized. Since there is such a negative stigma about being in poverty and homeless, they are neglected and are treated inhumanely. I strongly believe that all people deserve healthcare which is Helping Hands mission. This clinic can offer a meaningful and fulfilling experience for me since I would be able to help this cause.
Ultimately, I am looking for a place where I can develop both professionally and interpersonally, and I believe that Helping Hands is the perfect place. The opportunities at Helping Hands can help me grow as a person and shape me into a good future medical

I will be the type of provider that takes care of my patient’s physical and social needs by recognizing their social and psychology needs and make the appropriate referrals. Additionally, in order to further contribute to the mission of the program I want to advocate for future healthcare providers to practice in impoverished communities. Studies have shown that a majority of health care professionals currently in school may not have been exposed to community health or have had negative experiences. Through volunteer programs I want to educate future health providers about underserved populations that will hopefully result in future providers choosing to work in an underserved area during their career. The purpose of this program to support the mission to improve health and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce, and innovative programs.…

This large quantity of options makes it difficult for a young adult to know what he or she would like to specialize in and work with. There are two major ways to explore and find out where one’s calling may be, clinical experience and shadowing. The shadow opportunity was very enlightening. I co-founded Heal L.A. at UCLA to aid the homeless population around campus, volunteered in Asian Pacific Health Corps, and served in a research lab to reduce racial disparities in transplant.…
