Medical Field Application Essay

For as long as I could remember, I’ve wanted to be in the medical field. As an aspiring oral surgeon, an avid lover of serving the community, and a fun loving girl always searching for the next adventure, I am extremely grateful for the academic, extracurricular, and community programs I have been involved in throughout my lifetime. When we moved to Texas, one of the first things they told us about was the Northwest Independent School District pre-professional academies. My heart skipped a beat when I learned of the existence of the Academy of Biomedical Sciences and another when I got my acceptance letter in the eighth grade. Two years later, as a second year member of the program, I have been given the opportunity to run centrifuges, undergo extensive micropipette training, and dissect a number of organs including the brain and heart, amongst many other hands-on activities. This program has been one of the most scientifically influential experiences I have ever encountered. Not only have I gained valuable medical skills and experiences, I have also learned the true meaning of perseverance and never giving up, no matter how heavy the work load is. My life experiences have only furthered my love for the medical field and inspired me to become increasingly active in my community. I believe that my participation in the Stars Summer Research Program would propel me further on the path to achieving my dreams. Working closely with some of the best scientific minds would give me the opportunity to increase my awareness of developing technologies and discoveries in the world of science. I would be honored to work closely with the scholars through this summer program and truly believe that it would help me grow as a student and as a future health care
