It is hard to deny that the majority of the book demonstrates rather unhealthy doctor-patient relationships because there often is very little reciprocal trust and a most of Grealy’s doctors lack personability. The first step to a favorable doctor-patient relationship is the presence reciprocal trust. The doctor should be able to understand what their patient is telling them and trust that they are being honest. In the same manner, the patient should be able to rely on the decisions made by the doctor and assume that everything that is being done is in the best interest of the patient.…
Also, the manager should foster an environment that allows staff to participate in initiatives that are aimed at improving the quality of care given and in turn this will promote a structure that aligned to the hospital vision and…
Many health care organisations think a monthly meeting and occasional team away day is sufficient to ensure a healthy team; the challenge between the doctors in City Medical Centre tells otherwise. The physicians from Gastroenterology and Surgery Department failed to understand, believe in and work towards a shared measurable goal from lack of openness and trust compromising productivity at work. Where health care providers work in multidisciplinary teams and with different professional goals sometimes makes it impossible to establish a sense of common purpose resulting to clashes. Knowing health care is an extremly demanding profession, numerous problems within a close working team can occur.…
Medical terminology is for ALL of healthcare, not just doctors and nurses but billers, coders, medical assistants, front and back office staff. Basically, anyone you see working in a doctors office, clinic, hospital or nursing home have medical terminology as their "language". In coding, to quote Professor Ray, " Medical Terminology is PRICELESS in coding". The understanding of medical terminology helps in coding and billing to know the highest certainty and specificity of the disease/injury process and treatment associated with it. By knowing and having the ability to code and bill correctly through your knowledge of medical terminology insurance companies will reimburse and the entire office and staff benefit from it.…
This week’s reflection paper examines the execution of Cognitive Therapy Approach (CAT) intervention, which was presented by Arthur Freeman and a client with depressive symptoms. Throughout the video, Dr. Arthur Freeman highlighted and implemented several intervention techniques such as patients’ agreement and the importance of collaboration and structure. From my perspective, patients’ agreement is a tool for safely treating a patient and meeting them at their level of readiness. During several interactions, Dr. Freeman attempted to assess which goals the patient was comfortable with and mentally prepare approach therapeutically. It is evident that good communication is a crucial clinical skill which Dr. Freeman exemplified.…
Patient medical care should not be discussed in open areas in order to provide a trusting relationship (Milanifar, Larijani, Paykarzadeh, Ashtari, & Mehdi Akhondi, 2014). A trusting relationship will be broken when a patient hears their health care provider talking about other patients’ medical care…
It is important for hospital to make their patient aware that doctors are acting on their behalf or not. According to Daniel Salinas chief medical officer of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta ‘Transition of care points improve if we are aligned correctly and that equals quality of care”. Physicians and administrators should share decision from upper levels through each service line. Physicians and non-physicians can form powerful synergy. Hospital should collaborate with their physicians and maintain good relationship to be…
Research Coding Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. The diagnoses and procedure codes are taken from medical record documentation, such as transcription of physician's notes, laboratory and radiologic results, etc. Medical coding professionals help ensure the codes are applied correctly during the medical billing process, which includes abstracting the information from documentation, assigning the appropriate codes, and creating a claim to be paid by insurance carriers. Education and training is key to becoming a skilled and successful medical coder. The first step coders must take…
Trust in the Nurse/Patient Relationship The strength of the trust between a nurse and the patient determines how streamlined the care can be. For example, a patient who doesn’t disclose their entire health history to a nurse that they don’t have confidence in may experience more obstacles that could have been avoided. Trust is something that needs to be earned; it is not necessarily present because someone requires medical care. Patients become more trusting of nurses in a variety of ways: the capability to perform skills, awareness of physiological processes, empathy for their condition, etc.…

1. Staff shortage is one of the biggest issues in many health care organizations in the united states. It has a direct relationship with the poor patient outcomes and unstable health care system. In our department as we all noticed that every month we have to provide orientation to the new nurses and other health care providers, which has a negative impact on the health status of patients. Old staffs are more experienced than new staffs so they have better skills and knowledge to deal with health care challenges so it is most crucial to minimize the shortage of staffs.…
Showing how much influence the doctors have on their patients. My research also showed that many patients might think that they are given more medicine than necessary, but stay with the doctor because of the trust they have for their own doctor as well as their personal feelings for their doctor’s in terms of likability. Based on my research a possible solution is to use this relationship the doctors have with their patients to an advantage. Meaning that if a patient feels they are being over diagnosed they should be able to voice these opinions to their doctor’s. The doctors should also ask their patients if they are comfortable with the treatment methods and their opinions on their diagnosis.…

"The Sick Role" was a widely accepted concept during the middle of the 20th century that explains the rights and responsibilities of those who become ill. Established by Talcott Parsons in 1951, he explained that an individual who is experiencing an illness may not necessarily be able to perform their normative roles in society. In order to accommodate to peoples needs, society can adapt to this situation and allow for a reasonable amount of 'sanctioned deviance' from normal routine. Parsons further identifies that the nature and extent of "The Sick Role" depends on the severity of the condition, the individuals needs and their role in society. Additionally, Parsons proposed two rights and two responsibilities of the individual affected…
