I am a peculiar individual. Never caring about my own reputation, but rather preferring a life that helped others. Always thinking about my purpose in life, I came to the conclusion that the greatest joy in life is helping others achieve a higher standard in life. This included sacrificing and helping those around me in order for the world to be a better place. Even as a future physical therapist, I strive to provide individuals the possibility of regaining their range of motion.
Prior to my first year of high school, every student was required to choose an academy (An academy is a 4 year course that specializes in a specific field of study such as Fine Arts, Health Science, STEM and Public Services). As a majority of Asian parents had recommended, I was highly suggested to join the Health Science academy. At that time I believed that joining the medical field could benefit others in a greater way than

School was always very rough for the bulk of students, several AP classes and the exception of one Pre-AP class have arduous tasks and the majority of my friends needed to stay up late at night finishing up projects, worksheets, or book assignments. The infamous classes, AP Physics and Pre-AP Calculus have caused my friends to mentally break down and feel inadequate to their parents academic standards. Because I had taken these classes, I realized that comforting others was one of my biggest qualities that I had possessed. There were multiple occasions where I would be comforting someone through the Internet. Personally, I had to juggle my times between Pre-AP and AP classes, soccer, and band. Because of these factors in my life, I was able to relate to the difficulty of AP and Pre- AP classes and the time dedication for sports and fine arts. All of this has helped me develop a favorable kindness to anyone who is going through any sort of

Due to the symptoms, or should I say my inability to cope with the symptoms, Freshman and Sophomore year were difficult for me. Which unfortunately reflected in my grades. I allowed myself to be the victim of the cards I was dealt in this life instead of making some cool disappearing card trick or something out of them. I felt since I was active in so many things, I was a good person. Little did I realize that it is not the quantity of activities a person participates in, but the quality in which those activities are…

Even though a medical technologist can learn an array of medical or clinical technologies, innovative methods and at the same time experience a diversity in their tasks on a daily basis, some of the most important patient treatment methods, clinical procedures and health related conclusions are only left in the hands of the physicians and other health caregivers. A medical technologist is not permitted to do or decide on major medical issues or patient treatment methods. As a result, I am bit disappointed by this profession. As working in a hospital, I witness patients, been air-lifted or been rushed into the ER. While the traumatic event took it’s toll on me mentally, but I admire the prowess of the health care providers as the way they swooped…

When asked if mankind had progressed from ancient times to the present, mythologist Joseph Campbell stated that the true yardstick of our evolution is the extent to which we have developed and practiced compassion. I believe compassion—having the perspective of always considering others—is the most basic virtue, one that underpins integrity and humanism. It allows us to appreciate people who are different from us and gives us an understanding of how diversity enriches us all. At Georgetown University School of Medicine, the utilization of mindfulness and compassion, the underpinnings for practicing medicine, are its top priority.…

“No one has ever become poor by helping” quote by Anne Franklin. There is more gratitude and blessings in giving than in receiving and I have had the opportunity to witness this statement. My experience in the medical field has shaped my view of medicine and sparked my interest in becoming a Physician Assistant (PA) with a desire to help underserved communities, specifically the Latino community.
