Medicaid Fee Schedule Summary

Decent Essays
Hi Sue,

Using the IME floor fee schedule is the right way to go. A lot of our providers are being paid 100% of the Medicaid Fee Schedule. I don’t know what Radiology Consultants of Iowa contract states, but chances are it’s also being paid at 100% of the Medicaid Fee Schedule.
I hope this helps.

There are many key factors to consider when juxtaposing the ideas of a national Medicaid program and 56 different state and territorial programs. These include the role of government, the effectiveness in meeting local needs and financial obligations, flexibility in seeking innovative resolutions, the impacts on healthcare providers and access to care, the improvements in service quality, and the ability to overcome resistance to change, among many others. The first consideration is the role of the government in the distribution of care. The federal and state governments have a shared responsibility to ensure that people are provided with appropriate healthcare services and insured against catastrophic incidents.…

Similar to Canada’s health care system, President Barack Obama implemented the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act provides Americans with affordable and quality health insurance. To make health care more affordable in the United States, the legislation includes new benefits, rights and protections, rules for insurance companies, taxes, tax breaks, and funding (Affordable Care Act Summary). I believe that the Affordable Care Act, also referred to as Obamacare, is beneficial for Americans of the middle class. Medicaid expansion was put in place by the ACA. It is the law written requiring all states to expand Medicaid coverage, so all low-income individuals would have Medicaid as coverage. I disagree; because I believe that healthcare should be a right for every American, not a privilege or a service. I was surprised to see that one of the highest institutions of the land such as the Supreme Court exempted states from Medicaid expansion. This is like punishing it own citizens because there are poor.…

The most effective solution to fix the problem of the disparity in the Medicaid system is to reform the Medicaid program. By mandating that all states participate in the Medicaid program, many people who rely on Medicaid will have equal opportunities to receive Medicaid no matter where they live. Equally important, the federal government will be able to manage the funding to ensure that no one is left out due to a state’s lack of funds. In short, this reform can benefit both the state and federal governments. As an incentive for full participation by the state, the funds by the federal government would increase in order to help each state.…

Concerns about cost have led to the popularity of managed care options, first by corporations for their employees and now by governments, through the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Despite recent federal budget surpluses and proposals to expand funding and benefits in Medicare, there is serious concern among economists, legislators, and bureaucrats about the long-term solvency of both publicly funded programs. Concerns about cost are present in every form of nursing practice; they affect how work is organized, treatment plans for patients, and patients' perceptions of and participation in care. For example, even individuals with health insurance are wary of increased out-of-pocket expenses and no covered services. And there is heightened concern about pharmaceutical costs, fueled, in part, by the development of sophisticated new drugs.…
