The Media makes people emotionally unstable when they come in contact with their video games and their music video gangsters. Watching or listing to these videos could potentially lead a person to changing their character or living with long term consequences. This is a very important topic to discuss because youth crimes are on a constant rise and if we had an understanding of why we can go to the source and fix the problem. Once we try to get a control on what is being controlled in the music industry youth crime will decrease. Or if we can even get the music industry to speak about more positive things, that can also decrease youth crimes. So many of our youth wouldn’t be in jail houses, they will be in classrooms. Americans, specifically boys are anxious to get home to hop on their game devices such as; X-Box, PlayStation, and the Wii. Most of the games they have, deal with violence and criminal action. The media has promoted these type as the best games to buy. They may be the most popular games to buy but they also are the most popular reason why kids become emotionally unstable. Jordan and Ed Donnerstein uses an school shooting for an example how violent video games has raised the recent generation as criminals. A student who constantly plays shooting games, end up shooting people at his school. The authors state, “It was discovered that the shooter had never fired a real gun in his life before that day, yet his marksmanship was both accurate and lethal.” The video game became practice for the boy, hours and hours of trying to perfectly aim his targets on the game has taught him how to make a clean kill.
