Technology grows each and every day and a lot of people are drawn to it, thousands and thousands go out and buy the latest technology as soon as it hits the market. But technology is not the only thing that grabs people attention, the media does as well. All age groups, male and females are attracted the media, like watching TV, the social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), reading the newspaper and even listening to music. The mass media can be useful and helpful on most things but the way they define beauty of female is a misinterpretation. There is no single cause of body dissatisfaction or disordered eating. “But, research is increasingly clear that the media does indeed contribute and that exposure to and pressure exerted by media increase body dissatisfaction “(Media Smart). Females have been found to experience dissatisfaction with physical appearance at a much higher rate than males and women of all ages and sizes display body image disturbance. The media constantly talks about the ideal “ body image“ of female but never talks about how impossible it is to achieve and that it causes low self-esteem and unhealthy eating habits in females.
The media shows these images of females that are unhealthy, and portray bad messages. Some of the messages that are being said is in order for you be beautiful you have to unhealthy and underweight. These messages are so powerful and common in our culture that they affect girls long before they are exposed to fashion or…
