Throughout the history in America, public elections have been the way for officials to be given a position in office. Election campaigns have changed drastically since campaigns have began until todays day and age. The media has gone from just articles in a newspaper to television, radio, and social media broadcast. The media has provided voters with more and more information throughout the years through the broadcasting. It is controversial weather or not voters knowing too much information is good or bad for the politicians in the polls. From the research I have done, I have decided that the media is more helpful than hurtful to candidates. Media has covered political elections since it they have existed in the United States. The main sources of media include the internet, TV, radio, and newspapers which offers voters various ways to gather their information about political candidates. The 2016 election is being looked at as different than previous elections because social media is helping candidates take over control of the polls. …show more content…
Liking posts on sites like Facebook and Instagram have created a cheep way of gathering information. “By clicking on a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icon, constituents can give politicians an instant read on opinions and positions posted on their Web pages, sort of a rudimentary straw poll that is faster, cheaper—but less accurate—than a high-priced telephone poll.” (Cary par. 8). This is providing a much faster way to receive information with more results because most people will be willing to like or dislike something posted on the web rather than sitting through a phone questionnaire. “Sharing” on Facebook’s also allows the public to share posts that they agree with which leads more of the public to see the post and form opinions about the candidates and allows more people to know who the candidates
