In today’s society you are surrounded by mass media. Stuff like music, television, and video games has molded america into the country you have come to know and appreciate. If media were to shut down completely there would be mass hysteria and riots, because americans are so attached to their phone or television screen. Media does shape american values, it isolates them from the world behind the electronics. A majority of people, 77 percent to be exact, surveyed by the pew research center believe that there is media bias, while 53 percent said so in the same survey in 1985. Sixty-three percent (a majority of respondents) specifically cited Fox and CNN for having the most bias in their news coverage. Another survey shows that a majority of people believe their preferred news networks as credible while the other guys are biased. One example would be Conor Friedersdorfs news article about the exaggerated claims against president donald trump. In this article he talks about all the bias directed towards him throughout his campaign even when he gets into office. The media takes a story that may be true and twists it into something that they know that the people would not like. Whether you like it or not it is hard to get bias out of your work. A study by Molika Ashford proves that media bias may also be good thing. Molika uses this article to question everything people think about bias in the media industry, he uses sources to provide examples to support his argument.
