In the small times that the lower class is shown in the media, the typical lower class family is normally represented as mainly minority families (black, Hispanic, etc.) that live in what most call “the hood”. These neighborhoods are generally run down, and filled with drugs and robberies. For the working class, they are generally looked at as the family that barely sees each other. Mom and Dad both work long hours, the kids come home from school and make their own dinner. Once again, this is not the correct representation at all. There are many lower class families that live in okay sections of town, sections that are not crime ridden. Also, not all lower class people are the way the news media shows them either. Typically, when the news media shows lower class person, they are generally shown as those who rob stores or commit murder.
