Medea Play Character Analysis

In the play “Medea”, there are characters that help explain the story more efficiently than others. As for instance the main characters in the “Medea” play are; Jason, Glauce, and Medea. The story that these characters explain is pretty interesting to hear. Now with the modernized play that we had to create from an original play was quite tough but manageable. We have had to add a couple of characters that do not say much during the play but still have an impact on the entire play alone. These characters that we have put in our modernized play are; Cid (known as Jason), Cam (known as Glauce), Ruth (known as Medea), Ms. Smith, Cam’s parents, and an officer is our characters that play important roles in our new play that I have written. Cid is a character that is known for dating …show more content…
You will see that she has an important role in the play, doing the right thing to a student that it may look like she’s doing wrong but Ms. Smith is enforcing the rules and doing her job as best she can. Cam’s Parents is another character in the play that does not say much but needs to be add in the play for the audience to understand the situation that is occurring during the high school formal. Lastly, this character is here for more of safety precautions that he will later have to enforce to a character during the play. The Officer, in the play is more like Ms. Smith and he is just trying to do his job as best as he can and enforces rules just like her in her everyday life. All these characters in the play impact the story one way or another, not only they have important roles in the play but without them there would be no modernized play of Medea and there would be no story line that is being told. I hope that the audience will understand each individual character alone and how each character can either have similarities or differences with other

As I stepped through the doors of Tatum Theatre, I was transported back to Ancient Troy. Along with the set, the preshow soundtrack made me excited for the play that I was about to see. When the lights dimmed and the play began, soldiers walked out from the vomitoriums and surrounded audience members.…

After comparing his music to modern art, where context helps to determine meaning, she spoke of how “his melodies and his lyrics are so wed together. As this book will demonstrate more fully, Sondheim has spoken often and freely about the music, theater, and films. The present book shows a particular bias toward analyzing Sondheim's music. Medea who was the main character was effective because she had an evil yet charming personality, it was very seldom to know what she was thinking or any plan she had in her mind. A great example would be when she gave her precious gifts to her sons, to give to Jason’s new wife but the items were poisoned and killed the girl and her father, the King. I think I personally enjoyed how Medeas personality was almost bi polar, she would go from pleading and begging to threatening and speaking words of hate. This made the play very interesting and kept me engaged. Jason, was a strong military man full of adventures.…

    1) The opening scene with Ella reading a book while the rest of the actors sang and introduce the production depicts Ella as the main character who is level headed and a book worm. She is stuck in a town that worships Nevin Nallop, the creator of a pangram, and she seems to have outgrown the limited amount of opportunity that the island has to offer. The relationship between the townspeople and the LUGS are displayed by the LUGS assertive posture and gestures towards the residents, and their physical and verbal dominance shape their authority. For example, when Ruth was taken for saying illegal letters, her husband Shuburt tried to interfere but he was knocked to ground and was forced to cower from the LUGS. Also, when Ella and Nate addressed the higher council, the council is portrayed as…

Gender roles have historically been fairly standard, men provide for their family and the women are simply their husband’s property. Many old-time plays and stories embrace this simple concept, men over women. However, Euripides’ Medea shatters the concept of gender roles by having a woman, Medea, triumph over a man’s tyranny. Euripides description of Medea is that of a clever sorceress who will stop at nothing to achieve her goal. At the beginning of the story, Medea is depicted as a woman that’s madly in love with a man whose name is Jason, “ Then my mistress Medea would not have sailed to the fortress of Iolcus' land, her heart battered by love for Jason”.…
