Prostitution is the oldest profession since the beginning of history. Prostitution is a very controversial subject and everyone has a different view on it. Prostitution dates all the way back to the 1800’s in the United States. There are all kinds of reasons why women solicit sex for money and in a lot of cases you have women that love sex, you have women that love money or you have those women that love both. Prostitution has no age limit, there are girls as young as twelve that are prostitutes and you have women as old as sixty still soliciting sex for money. In many of these females’ eyes it’s a means of survival. So what is the true meaning of being labeled a prostitute? The United States has progressed so much that the economy has fluctuated a lot based on the gains and the losses. According to Laws (2016), “The average female prostitute enters her job when she is only 16 or 17 years of age. About 40% of prostitutes are former child prostitutes who were illegally forced into the profession through human trafficking or once were teenage runaways”. When young girls decide to become prostitutes a lot of times they were victims of incest and rape.
