Malawi, Africa is the poorest country in Africa. However, the U.S. is the poorest richest country on earth. Malawi, Africa compared to the U.S. is in extreme poverty. The U.S. is considered in mild or low poverty. Malawi, Africa has the worst case of poverty. Children are unable to go to school because they cannot afford to pay the enrollment fee. In Malawi, Africa primary school is free, but children still are not able to get to school because of the lack of transportation (Rural Poverty in Malawi). Many people in Malawi, Africa live in rural areas which mean they have a lack of transportation, and roads. This makes them unable to get to stores, and other places they desire to go. Due to the extremities of their poverty Malawi, Africa can be considered as having different types of poverty. Malawi, Africa has a poverty of support, knowledge—poverty in itself. The U.S. on the other hand has poverty, but it is not extreme poverty. The U.S. is often considered the land of opportunities (Esquivada). However, as time passes the name “land of opportunities” slowly fades away. Day by day more families are constantly trying to make ends meet with the little money they have. Malawi, Africa in its entirety is in poverty, but just parts of the U.S. are in poverty. Some parts of the U.S. are doing excellent while others state of well-being is decreasing daily.
