While God planned to kill all the people, Noah was an exception in his eyes. He instructed Noah to build an arc and to board his family and some animals (one male and one female of each) onto it, to save them from the flood that God was planning to send. After forty days and nights, the flood receded to bring about a clean world. As the new world began to flourish, God remembered the promise he had made to Eve about vanquishing the devil. He looked for a man who was pure and free of personal greed. God found Abram.
