* Mealworms have six legs that are located more closely to their heads than the rest of their body. They’re about 1-2 inches longs. Their body color consists of the a dark brown head and a body that’s a dark yellow with thin brown stripes going down the body towards a rounded tip tail.
* Mealworms begin to squirm and move erratically when touched by the tip of a pencil and tweezers. They tend to climb up the walls when in a container and tried to burrow themselves underneath the paper towel when the placed in a petri dish with a dry towel.

Habits: Two-toed amphiumas are aquatic and nocturnal animals. However, these animals can move over land in swamps in the rain. They typically hide under cover be it mud or underwater debris with their head sticking out. These animals will lie and wait in these hiding places for prey to pass, and when it does they are known to bite fairly aggressively. The two-toed amphiuma lays its eggs near the waters edge, or even underground (Conant and Collins 1998).…

These blood are transported throughout the body with the help of the blood vessels. One blood vessels receives the blood from the body while the other blood vessels takes away the blood from the lungs. For example, in frogs, pigs, and humans, there are blood vessels that take in deoxygenated blood from the body while other blood vessels take oxygenated blood away from lungs. Analysis: There are several instances where the number of pillbugs in the light are equal to the number of pillbugs in the dark. It’s difficult to decipher a pattern in the data. The pillbugs seem very indecisive and continuously move between chambers. However, if one disregards the data where the number in light and dark are equal, there are three times where the amount in light is higher and only two times where the amount in dark is higher.…

Out of the many short stories we have read over the past few weeks, the one that is most comparable to the movie “In The Time of the Butterflies” would have to be “The Slaughter House” by Esteban Echeverria. They both posses a similar message of covering the topic of the rule of a dictatorship, but in a couple of different ways. Despite the differences between Echeverria’s “The Slaughter House” and the movie adaptation of Julia Alvarrez’s novel, they both do a great job of depicting the reality of Latin America after colonial times and under the rule of tyrants. The theme of both works is most definitely the impact that a tyrannical rule of a dictatorship has on the people. However some noticeable differences between the two would have to be how Echeverria’s story covers how the people acted towards each other under the rule of the Rosas dictatorship in Argentina.…

We discovered that the sow bugs had an overall negative reaction towards this environment. We inferred this as we watched and studied the behavior of sow bugs. We knew they had a negative reaction towards the damp environment when they went towards the piece of paper towel and rearing back and going back towards the control or to the dry side. The trend that we saw in the bugs with no reaction was that they were smaller in size. All they wanted to do was remain in the middle of the container, vs. the larger worms who were more active.…

The healing power of maggots is not new. Human beings have discovered it several times. The Maya are said to have used maggots for therapeutic purposes a thousand years ago. As early as the sixteenth century, European doctors noticed that soldiers with maggot-infested wounds healed well. More recently, doctors have realized that maggots can be cheaper and more effective than drugs in some respects, and these squirming larvae have, at times, enjoyed a quiet medical renaissance.…

Coffee, Snacks, Worms In Karleen Bradford`s “Coffee, Snacks, Worms” foreshadowing, theme, and symbolism are the three most significant elements of fiction that intensify the effectiveness of the short story. Firstly, foreshadowing add tension to the story which makes the reader want to read more to see how it develops. Foreshadowing first introduced in the beginning of the story with the italic font but the conclusion made a huge impact “There, in front of her, stood a dishevelled, disreputable, totally terrifying figure” (Bradford ). Daydreaming is implied to foreshadowing that later be used to connect what had happened and what she was thinking.…
