Me And Earl And The Dying Girl Book Review

Decent Essays
I read Jesse Andrews’ book, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. The book was a good read for me.The book was very well written and he was able to make it humorous which is hard. The book was also very relatable. In a lot books that revolve around high school, they tend to be overdone or even unrealistic but Jesse Andrews wrote about high school just like it is.
My only issue with it was that it didn’t have a point on why it was written or a lesson to be learned. Even though it was clearly stated in the book that there was no point, I was still half expecting there to be one. Overall, the book was enjoyable and I would recommend it for a fun read over the summer.

It left so many unanswered questions for the reader, which can be quite frustrating as I have heard from other students. I will be going more in depth with this in the next paragraph. Overall, Barbara Haworth-Attard had many outstanding strengths that made the book worthwhile to read, but there are still some areas that she might want to work on for her next writing…

The novel Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews is a fabulously relatable novel that I earnestly enjoyed reading. This book is entertaining, humorous, and has a unique plot. I rate this book 4.5/5 stars. Although most of the book was extremely engrossing, there were some parts in the novel that were very slow-paced and boring. For example, there are many sections of the novel that focus on backflashes to previous events in Greg’s life.…

Despite the excellent flow, there were a few flaws that could have been remedied. One of the flaws is the faintly abrupt ending. Regardless of the fact that the ending was engaging, pleasurable, and extremely relevant to the story, the resolution was a mere two chapters, which gave an impression of a slightly hurried ending. The ending, although it was well written, was somewhat diminutive.…

The novel Shatter Me written by Tahereh Mafi is foremost one of the best books that I have ever read in my existence. This amazing novel was really unpredictable as everything happened like a rollercoaster ride. However, it did have some drops throughout the book that I did not find amusing. The three main things that I personally adored about this novel was the idea, characters, and writing style. I really liked the idea of this novel as it was really eventful.…

Literature EOPA This year I did free reading and I would say that that was a great idea for me since I have been so busy. Throughout the year I had many ups and downs and I realized I read more when I am going through a low point and not as much while going through a high point.…

This book surpassed my expectations because I expected to read a sequel that was better than the original, yet the way that the author wrote the book really captured the essence of the first book and morphed it into something fresh and exciting. The only choice I wish Suzanne Collins had taken would have been to tell the story of the first quarter quell because that way we learn more about the history of Panem. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to other teen readers because its more mature than a regular child’s book yet it isn’t serious to bore the reader.…

Slavery has been around for a long time, but was first introduced in America in the early 1600s and in Jamestown, Virginia. Aside from free states, most freed or escaped slaves went to Canada through the use of the underground railroad. Canada was a place where they were pretty much guaranteed safety. Slavery lasted from 1619-1865 when the Civil War ended. Brad Asher, the author, lives in Louisville, Kentucky and has a Ph.D. in history.…

It is a book that needs to be read with great attention and thinking to understand meanings and evaluate ideas critically. I personally like this book because it heavily relies on critical reasoning and logic that is back to back like dominos in a line. Before reading this book I had heard it was about a racist trial of an African American and that was the basic summary of it. After reading the book I found that the main part of the story was about the unfair trial because of a racist jury even though all evidence pointed to the white man who was actually responsible for the crime, the were other lessons that could be related to racism or any other type of discrimination. This book was a really good and easy read that had a deep meaning to it and a lesson. I cannot figure out though if the writer wrote this book to be a great story or a good lesson, it actually brings out a good story with a good lesson but because it was so well written, I cannot pin point the focus of either a good story of a good life lesson. I found that there were at least four different lessons that were obvious to me.…
