Mcw Personal Statement

MCW is a school that I believe can take my knowledge and understanding of medicine to a greater level. The multiple campus options improve the chance of finding the right fit, and the appropriate faculty to do so. Throughout my years, I have attended four universities, and lived in three different states. I have held a passion for football, but also a love for culture. Having had the opportunity to follow both dreams, a football career and medical career, has allowed me to stay grounded and humble upon my pursuit of those dreams. Although my two main passions are school and football, I consider myself more holistic than that. I began studying French in middle school, and I continued this education through college. My hope is to someday travel …show more content…
Beginning at a young age, I volunteered at the hospital and this became my initial entry into medicine. Currently, I volunteer at the homeless shelter and for the Red Cross. Both of these opportunities allow me to work with a diverse population and help them improve their circumstances. For the past year, I have worked as a medical assistant (MA), at Billings Clinic. So far, I have gained immense experience and have had some interesting days. My most memorable experience would have to be when I had to perform CPR for the first time on a patient who had a heart attack in the bathroom at the clinic. He had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and as the first respondent I was determined to do everything I could to save his life. That memory coincides with my identity to be a person who is willing to go the extra length to help a person in need. My identity as an African American male from a single-parent household in Montana has made for some interesting experiences and opportunities. I would consider myself academically devoted, athletic, reserved, and benevolent. In terms of talents, it would probably be easier for me to identify some of things I know I could

With a mission devoted to providing an unparalleled medical education, focused upon the improvement of community health, service to underserved populations, and promotion of diversity, I believe Morehouse School of Medicine can provide me with a rich medical experience that will lend itself well to my development as a medical student and aspiring physician. An emphasis on serving underserved groups, such as minorities, and addressing current health disparities were my primary motivations for applying to Morehouse School of Medicine. Following residency, I hope to practice medicine in a community limited in terms of affordability, accessibility, and availability of healthcare options. In such a community, I can utilize my medical education for the purpose of addressing the health concerns and disparities affecting those in society who are often ignored and suffer in health as a result.…

A brilliant man by the name of Ernest Hemingway, once said "Every man’s life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another. " What comes to mind after reading this statement? Simple, we all end out on the same path eventually in life yet to be noted as the most remarkable person based upon their natural raw passion for life and how they live; is what makes individual. Someone to stand out amongst the many solely based upon their life's actions leading up to one moment is what allows for this opportunity.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

My experiences, academic background and personality are three key aspects of my life that make the medical field a preference and a particularly suitable field for me. My interest in medicine was first sparked when I volunteered at CentraState Medical Center working with geriatric patients. To further explore this interest, I joined the First Aid Squad in my town. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. After completing a four-month intensive EMT course and state exam, I can proudly say that I am now a New Jersey certified EMT.…

With HOSA, I went out to different nursing homes conversing with patients and throwing them holiday parties. Furthermore, I participated in many different charitable efforts, such as raising money for Cystic Fibrosis, listening to the stories of patients and learning about their interactions with physicians. Through these experiences, I learned more about the different struggles patients and healthcare providers go through. As I began college, I continued my volunteer work in healthcare, volunteering at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Learning about the impact physicians have on patients, I am inspired to pursue a career in medicine to be able to benefit the lives of others, easing and healing them physically through my actions as a physician and emotionally through my interactions with them as a…

There are many duties for a Medical Assistant such as administering oral medications, topical, or intramuscular injections, performing EKG’s also known as Electrocardiograms. Medical Assistants also help physicians during exams, explaining medical procedures, removing sutures from a wound, phlebotomy-drawing blood, filling out patient charts, insurance forms, or medical records. They also order lab tests, schedule patient appointments, and more importantly, they serve and protect the practice and patients by adhering to procedures and policies at the Local, State, and Federal level. There are many reasons why I choose to become a Medical Assistant but by far the most important reason was being helpful and supportive of Grandmother when my late Uncle became sick. When I began high school, I knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field as something, but I was not sure what that something would be.…
